The national compliance companies sell to hundreds of thousands of small businesses. Nobody reviews them for the buyer. Each review uses the same eight criteria and rests on public sources. Anyone can reply to it, including the provider.

Citation

For a large site or a chain of shops Citation’s health and safety service is a strong tool. For a small business it is probably overkill. A local expert and free guidance will cover most of what a small business needs without tying it in for years.

The eight criteria

Every provider is scored on the same eight, in the same order. How we review, in full.

Contract length: How long the initial term is, and whether a one-year option exists.
Notice and renewal: Whether it auto-renews, for how long, and how narrow the notice window is.
Price transparency: Whether prices are published, itemised, or only available on a sales call.
What is bundled: Whether you can buy one service, or only the package.
Exit terms: What it costs to leave early, and what happens at the end.
Small business fit: Whether the model is built for a 10 person firm or sold to one.
Large business fit: Whether it suits a site of more than 50 people, or a chain of shops or sites.
Service delivery: What the public record says about visits, response and quality.
